Tonight, just before sunset, I probably missed one of the most striking photos that I could have taken in my life. We were driving past one of the many lakes, it had just rained hard in this section of road and a mist was taking hold above the lakes and trees, and I look over in the lake there's a lone fisherman slowly trolling his way to shore with the purple sunset reflection on the water. Now, had I been a professional photographer and not on this journey with two tired kids and an exhausted wife, I would have turned back, dug my tripod out of the middle of the trailer and asked the fisherman to head back out there so that I could get my shot. In reality though, I have that picture in my mind and it summed up the beauty seen on this leg of the trip. We're now in Sault Ste. Marie, we arrived late as usual, in the dark and not knowing what's around us. The U.S. border is mere blocks away and we are without our passports, so there is no opportunity for bargain shopping for a couple of hours. The Soo Locks are here and I'm hoping that is something of interest for the family to see before heading onto Ottawa. Actually, today wasn't all that fun and we just made an executive decision to add another day to our trip and stop in North Bay, ON to help split the drive up. I don't think anyone in the family wants to do another ten hour day. So, that should have us in Ottawa by Shan's birthday, and perhaps a nice birthday surprise is in store.
That's all for now, I'll add some pics as soon as I get a stitching program to put together some of the panoramic shots I took. Until tomorrow, or the day after...good night.
